THE MODERN BALLROOM

The largest of the 2019 San Francisco Decorator Showcase rooms is found on the ground level of the exquisite mansion, where an existing windowless ballroom was transformed into a sleek, black discotheque reminiscent of a Berlin nightclub. Designers Vernon Applegate and Gioi Tran of Applegate Tran Interiors collaborated closely with Larkspur Builders to transform the existing ballroom into a modern masterpiece.

The walls and ceiling were completely refinished in a high gloss bespoke green paint, contrasted with natural stone and patterned tile work. Surreal columns are made of hanging charcoal shards, and a custom light pendant creates a focal point in the center of the room. An illuminated marble bar for entertaining sits in front of a custom illuminated wine rack using bottles of rose as an alluring design element.
